Spring Summer 2017
THE STORY BEHIND THE COLLECTION
“Human desire is the fundamental motivation of all human action” —Thomas Hobbes, English philosopher
When I read this quote – all my inspiration was drawn towards literature, arts and music. I imagined powerful and independent women that lived their lives to the fullest and created beautiful and important work. Women like Frida Kahlo and Coco Chanel, among others. What sources of inspiration!
I was inspired by powerful colours, dramatic shapes, Asian fusion, floating materials, intense embroideries - all with a playful twist of the 70’s.
I’m always in search of the perfect balance, the yin and yang - in my personal life. This is also true in the designs that I create. But when I was creating this collection, I realized I was creating a collection full of drama and emotions.
As I had these powerful women in mind, filled with colours and bold prints, I sought back to my Scandinavian roots and their more minimalistic and clean shapes all in neutral colours, to balance out the collection. To let yin meet yang again.
“Your desire keeps your spirit and soul alive and is your sense of longing. Your heartbeat is the beat that keeps you moving forward.” — Tine Mollatt
I’m incredibly proud of the prints and embroideries, as they have become even bolder this season. We create and design all the prints, patterns, embroideries and colours in the studio in Oslo, we do it this way to make everything completely unique! As the 70’s are still in full bloom, you can easily see this inspiration in the prints and the touch of Asian fusion that floats through the collection.
“Listen to your heartbeat when it gets too rough; you will find your freedom, sense of belonging; it will give and lead you and hopefully inspire you.” — Lidewij Edelkoort, Trend Analytic
Thank you to the cities of London and New York that gave me endless amounts of vintage and antique inspiration. New ideas and inspiration from the early 1900’s to the late 1970’s to complete my inspiration for this collection.
