TRAVEL TREASURES

The Clignancourt

Voila! Our all time favourite vintage market.

If you’ve seen the movie Midnight in Paris, you know what we are talking about when we say that the Clignancourt in Paris is a truly magical place. The Clignancourt is a vintage and antique market in 18th arrondissement, where stalls and stalls of antique and vintage objects make the area into a little, magical village, where history comes to life.

Here you can find everything from vintage Hermes bags to lamps, books, records and truly amazing furniture. You will also find something in every price range; so don’t be afraid of not finding anything to your liking! If you are interested in doing the untraditional sightseeing whilst in Paris, the Clignancourt is the place to visit.
After years of strolling this market, we have gathered together some of byTiMo’s insider tips:

When you arrive at the market, make sure you’re at t he right place! If you travel by metro, you will immediately see some market stalls, but these are not the right ones! Make sure to walk pass these, and then you will see the market starting before you.

Take your time!
Walking through the whole market will take you more than one day, so be sure to prepare yourself. Perhaps, have an idea of what you are in the search of. Is it furniture or fashion? Porcelain or vintage records?

What to shop?
Vintage clothing of all categories, you’ll find bargains as well as the most exquisite designer pieces. Embroidered linens, jewellery, and lots and lots of furniture! All of the byTiMo concept stores have elements of antique furniture inside, all found at this market! After years of strolling this market, we have gathered together some byTiMo insider tips: When you arrive at the market, make sure you’re at t he right place! If you travel by metro, you will immediately see some market stalls, but these are not the right ones! Make sure to walk pass these, and then you will see the market starting before you. Eat, drink, and enjoy! Lets not forget one of the reasons we absolutely love Paris. The food and wine! And this is also an important part when experiencing the Clignancourt market. Philippe Starck recently opened a lovely new restaurant, ‘Ma Cocotte,’ recommended by us, to you. Visit: Ma Cocotte

On a personal note: a little review of Midnight in Paris Woody Allen, 2001
A beautiful movie with lots of emotion, history, and the classicWoody Allen take on modern day relationships. For us, what is above unique, is this movie’s display on truly amazing fashion from past decades, as the lead character, played beautifully by American actor Owen Wilson travels back in time to experience Paris in different eras. We were very moved when the set moved to the Clignancourt vintage market, where we ourselves travel to find antique and vintage objects that inspire us.
